BLOOMINGTON, IL – The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) recently
launched three new websites powered by a new content management system (CMS)
that enables interactivity on a whole new level. The CMS also allows ISA staff
to make changes and publish new pages and photos in a matter of minutes – which
means growers and other users will have access to the most up-to-date
information available. What’s more, all three sites are interconnected to make
navigating from one to the other as easy as a simple click.
The
statewide organization for Illinois
soybean growers, ISA is taking more steps to keep its members and stakeholders
better informed, while educating where necessary on key matters of interest.
Farmers on the ISA board administer soybean checkoff funds to support research,
promotions and educational programs designed to increase demand for Illinois soybeans, as well
as administer legislation and membership programs. The three new sites are funded in part by the soybean checkoff and
feature information on all aspects of these endeavors.
The New
ISA Website
The
new www.ilsoy.org merges information and
some of the features from the “old” site. Users will also find the new site
easier to navigate and filled with more real-time information like weekly web
articles and a trip blog gallery. Featuring ISA headlines on the home page, the
new site also links to recent YouTube
videos; program
information on research, domestic marketing, membership, legislation,
international marketing and more; as well as educational materials for
kindergarten through sixth grade. Other highlights include the “Think’n with Lincoln” game, soy
recipes, charitable efforts
and real-time agricultural news, market updates and weather.
The 2010
Yield Challenge
The
second site, www.soyyieldchallenge.com,
supports the 2010 Yield Challenge and provides team sponsors, growers and
students with the tools and information they need to register and get
involved. Each team can input field data
online through a sophisticated database-driven module. This data will then be exported to the Varietal
Information Program for Soybeans (VIPS), where researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign analyze the
data.
Access to
Recent Biodiesel Industry Updates
Using
the same web design template, the new www.getb11.info
offers a more complete overview of what is happening with ISA’s involvement in
the biodiesel industry. The site features information for retailers and
suppliers, along with details on the Clean Bus program, tax incentives, myths
and facts, testimonials, fuel quality and more.
Together,
the three sites offer a well-rounded view of what the ISA is doing on behalf of
soybean growers in Illinois.
